Job description

Detailed Description:
  • Lead the design process across web and mobile experiences: discovery research, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and validation through usability testing.
  • Partner daily with product managers and engineers to ship features - you'll be embedded in the team, not handing off from a distance.
  • Collaborate with teammates who support user interviews and research logistics, shaping study plans together and turning findings into design decisions the team can act on.
  • Establish and maintain our first design system spanning web and mobile, building on existing design documentation and workflow definitions the team has already started.
  • Advocate for users in roadmap and prioritization discussions, bringing evidence to the table.
  • Help define how design works here - processes, tools, and critique culture as the team grows.

  • Perform additional duties as required and assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of product design experience, ideally with at least some of it on B2B or enterprise software.
  • Experience designing for both web and mobile, with a solid grasp of responsive design and platform conventions (iOS/Android).
  • A portfolio showing end-to-end work: the problem, your process, and shipped outcomes - not just polished screens.
  • Comfort working independently and making decisions without a design manager reviewing every step.
  • Hands-on experience with modern design tools (e.g., Figma) and familiarity with how designs translate to front-end implementation.
  • Experience running or contributing to user research and usability testing.
  • Strong communication skills - able to explain design rationale to engineers, PMs, and executives alike.
  • Demonstrates positive collaboration skills: communicates effectively, builds relationships across functions, and takes an interest in team members' success.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (Required).
  • 3-5 years of product design experience (Required).
  • Portfolio of shipped product work demonstrating end-to-end design process (Required).

Additional Details:
The UX Designer works with significant autonomy as the first dedicated designer on the team. The incumbent is expected to establish and drive design processes, make independent design decisions, and present rationale clearly to cross-functional stakeholders. Work is evaluated on the quality and impact of shipped product experiences and the effectiveness of the design system and processes established.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience building or significantly contributing to a design system.
  • Prior experience as an early or solo designer at a company.
  • Familiarity with complex workflows, data-heavy interfaces, or admin tooling.

Why This Role:
  • Real ownership, real support. Your design decisions ship, and you set the direction - backed by teammates who already help with research, documentation, and workflows.
  • Visible impact. In enterprise software, good UX is a genuine differentiator - your work directly affects whether customers succeed with our product.
  • Room to grow. As the first designer, you're positioned to shape and eventually lead the design function as we scale.
  • Hybrid flexibility. Work from our Houston office part of the week, from home the rest.
