Job Title: Supervisor UV Department

Department: UV, PUR (NCQ), and Annealing Lines

Location: CFL USA LLC – Calhoun, Georgia

Reports To: UV Department Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time


Overview:

The UV Supervisor oversees daily operations across three critical production areas: the UV Coating Lines, the PUR (NCQ) Padding Line, and the Annealing Line. This leadership role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production while coordinating people, processes, and equipment across the department.

Requirements:

Core Responsibilities:

1. Safety Leadership

• Enforce all PPE policies and safety procedures, including UV lamp safety, chemical handling, and hot-melt operations.

• Ensure operators follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), hazard reporting, and safe startup/shutdown procedures.

• Conduct routine safety walks, correct unsafe behaviors, and escalate hazards as needed.

2. Production Oversight

• Oversee daily production on all UV lines, PUR line, and the Annealing line.

• Ensure each line meets production targets, changeover efficiency, and waste reduction goals.

• Coordinate labor assignments across three areas to maintain balanced workflow.

• Verify correct material flow from extrusion staging to UV, PUR, and Annealing processes.

3. Quality Control

• Ensure products meet gloss, adhesion, uniformity, scratch resistance, and overall visual quality standards.

• Perform or verify visual inspections at the defined 60cm and 1.5m criteria.

• React quickly to coating defects (glitter, dry shine, pressure marks, streaks, waves).

• Review dyne test results and PUR adhesion checks and adjust processes accordingly.

4. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Support troubleshooting of UV applicators, mercury/gallium lamps, doctor systems, roller nips, PUR melters, glue rollers, and annealing ovens.

• Ensure operators complete daily PM tasks, including cleaning lamps, greasing bearings, and inspecting rollers.

• Ensure completion of breakdown maintenance task as needed; changing rollers, changing, belts, changing bearings, or any other task needed to get any production line into production. Supervisor must be hands at every event possible.

• Coordinate maintenance support for major repairs and downtime events.

5. Team Leadership & Training

• Lead UV, PUR, and Annealing operators during all shifts.

• Train employees on SOPs, process controls, defect identification, and equipment care.

• Help in the development of new processes and procedures along with communicating any new process and procedure to all team members.

• Hold employees accountable for safety, quality, cost, performance, attendance, staging accuracy, and housekeeping.

• Support cross-training to improve flexibility across the department.

6. Reporting & Administration

• Review and sign daily production sheets, material usage logs, downtime records, and quality reports.

• Audit in-process staging areas daily for accuracy, organization, and process standards,.

• Maintain inventory of coatings, PUR glue, rollers, and any other consumable for the department.

• Communicate daily production status to the Department Manager.

• Participate in improvement meetings and support continuous improvement projects.

• Hold shift team alignment meetings at minimum monthly.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Identify trends in defects, downtime, roller wear, adhesive failures, or gloss variation.

• Recommend improvements concerning Safety, Quality, Production, Cost, or Processes.

• Support development of new SOPs and refinement of existing ones for UV, PUR, and Annealing.

Qualifications:

• 1+ years experience in UV coating a major plus. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of how to troubleshoot basic issues with the UV Coating process.

• PUR (NCQ) or Padding production line experience a plus.

• Bilingual a plus.

• Lift truck experience a plus. Must be willing to be trained to drive powered equipment.

• Strong mechanical skills. Must be hands on.

• Ability to lead teams, maintain discipline, and train operators effectively.

• Ability to work in a fast paced adapting manufacturing environment.

• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support departmental operations.

• Strong communication skills both verbally and through technology.

• Basic understanding of office software such as MS Word and Excel.
