Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Production / Utility Technician to support our machining and production operations. This hands-on role combines CNC machine operation with utility responsibilities to keep production running efficiently. Duties include operating and setting up CNC equipment, preparing raw materials, supporting production flow, performing quality inspections, and assisting with shipping, receiving, and facility maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to grow within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Production
  • Perform machine setups and operate CNC lathes and machining centers.
  • Make machine adjustments at the control to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
  • Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Monitor tool wear, change tooling, and adjust offsets as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and follow work instructions.
  • Complete production logs and quality documentation accurately.

Utility & Production Support
  • Operate the Hem Saw to cut and stage raw material for production.
  • Organize, label, paint, and store incoming raw material.
  • Operate a forklift to load and unload trucks and move materials throughout the facility.
  • Set up and operate drill and tap machines.
  • Monitor coolant, oil, and waste barrels, replacing or refilling as needed.
  • Operate the clip machine and perform quality checks on finished parts.
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, laser etching, deburring, sandblasting, tumbling, and part assembly.
  • Perform basic machine and building maintenance, including changing filters, monitoring coolant levels, changing light bulbs, and seasonal outdoor maintenance.
  • Empty trash, remove scrap, clean chip gondolas, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

Compensation
Pay Range: $17.00-$19.00 per hour, based on experience.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or CNC machining experience preferred.
  • Experience with CNC setup and operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of manual machining (Bridgeport mills or manual lathes) is a plus.
  • Experience with Okuma controls is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic shop math skills, including decimals and geometry.
  • Forklift experience is preferred or willingness to become certified.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet throughout the shift.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity. While employed through SDMS, you'll receive SDMS benefits. Upon being hired by our client, you'll immediately transition to their full benefits package-there is no additional waiting period after hire.
