Utilities Engineer
Department: Transportation
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: $105,000 - $150,000 / year
Description

At Horrocks, we believe the best work comes from companies with values, that our people are our greatest resource, and that we have a responsibility to the communities where we work. As a Utilities Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Lead a project team consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability of new and existing utility systems as part of large-scale transportation projects
  • Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction-related issues
  • Coordinate utility relocation efforts on behalf of Federal, State, and Local area agencies or utility infrastructure owners
  • Act as a team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering work including scope, cost and schedule control
  • Prepare, host and track action items that are associated with project progress meetings
  • Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients
  • Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation utility engineering, design or construction related fields
  • Ability to manage engineering, design or construction projects
  • Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation and some experience in Open Roads Designer is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
