Job description

Title: Lead Finance Analyst
Company: Peoples Gas System
State and City: Florida - Tampa
Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days| 4 days onsite and 1 day remote
Peoples Gas System is seeking a Lead Finance Analyst (FP&A) in Tampa, Florida to support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making within a regulated energy utility environment. This senior-level finance role is ideal for experienced Financial Analysts, Senior Financial Analysts, or Finance Business Partners with strong expertise in financial modeling, variance analysis, and business performance insights.
This role plays a key part in driving financial performance, cost optimization, and capital planning across a growing energy organization serving communities throughout Florida.
What You'll Do
You'll play a key role in annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, with increasing scope and leadership.
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
  • Perform financial modeling, variance analysis, and trend analysis to support business decisions
  • Partner with business leaders as a finance business partner to drive performance and accountability
  • Develop and deliver monthly financial reporting and executive-level insights
  • Support capital planning, O&M budgeting, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Analyze financial data to identify risks, opportunities, and operational efficiencies
  • Provide recommendations that support strategic decisions and regulatory compliance
  • Improve financial processes, reporting tools, and data accuracy

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university
  • 5+ years of accounting/financial experience or other relevant experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and comfort working with senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA (active or in progress)
  • Experience with systems such as SAP, PowerPlan, and/or workk management
  • Knowledge of utility operations, utility accounting, or regulatory environments

Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity.
Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents. As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios
