Position Summary

R/S Electric Utility is seeking an experienced Utility Project Manager to lead and manage complex overhead and underground electrical utility infrastructure projects from preconstruction through closeout. This position is responsible for overall project execution, including cost control, scheduling, safety, quality, subcontractor coordination, and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience managing utility or electrical construction projects and will work closely with executive leadership, estimating teams, field supervision, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple electrical utility construction projects simultaneously from design through final closeout
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and execution strategies
  • Oversee quantity takeoffs, estimates, change orders, subcontractor scopes, supplier pricing, and contract administration
  • Review and approve bills of materials, specifications, drawings, and project documentation
  • Coordinate permitting, submittals, proposals, and contract negotiations
  • Provide leadership and direction to project engineers, estimators, field supervisors, and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, safety requirements, and quality control procedures
  • Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks, schedule impacts, and cost variances
  • Lead project meetings with clients, inspectors, engineers, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure timely and professional communication with clients and deliver proactive solutions to project challenges
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all assigned projects
  • Protect company interests by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive business and project information
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and mentor junior project management staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives

Qualifications, Skills, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)
  • 5+ years of project management experience in electrical construction, utility work, or related infrastructure projects
  • Strong working knowledge of construction means and methods, contract administration, and project controls
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractor performance
  • Electrical or utility construction experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Bluebeam experience preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required
