Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Midwest Utility Operations team. This leadership role is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex electrical construction projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and profitability.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing multi-million-dollar projects in the utility sector, particularly in high-voltage substations, transmission, and distribution systems. This position is based in our Indianapolis, Indiana office and requires regular travel to job sites in the Midwest.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Included, but are not limited to:
• Lead and manage all aspects of assigned utility construction projects, including budget, schedule, resources, and workforce allocation
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards
• Drive timely decision-making and provide direction to maximize project profitability and efficiency
• Supervise project teams, including field leadership and administrative staff
• Oversee and optimize the use of company-owned and rented equipment
• Contribute to and review project schedules, cost tracking, and reporting
• Support development and execution of subcontracts, purchase orders, and proposals
• Review and approve construction methods, site purchases, and operational practices
• Monitor and ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulations
• Prepare and submit monthly job cost reports and financial updates
• Act as a key liaison with clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction
• Lead project close-out processes to ensure contractual and company requirements are met
• Support employee development and company training initiatives
• Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Electric Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 10+ years of project management experience on multi-million-dollar electrical construction projects
• Proven experience in high-voltage substations, transmission, and distribution projects
• Strong understanding of utility construction practices and safety standards
