Job Summary:

HCA Healthcare Pathology Services and their West Florida Division is seeking a Pathology Medical Director to be based at HCA Florida Blake Hospital which is located in Bradenton, Florida about 45 miles south of Tampa in the Sarasota metropolitan area.
HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton offers a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team in a vibrant coastal community. The hospital is home to advanced specialty programs, including a leading Breast Care Center and Lung Care Center, both dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. Located near Gulf Coast beaches, Bradenton combines sunny weather, waterfront living, and a welcoming atmosphere which makes it an ideal place to grow both personally and professionally.
Pathology Services consists of over 200 board certified multispecialty pathologists and provides professional services to over 100 HCA Healthcare owned hospitals as well as commercial clients. We provide expert diagnosis in complex and challenging fields.  Among our top priorities is employing the best talent to advance care for our patients.
Qualified Candidates:
 
  • AP/CP certification is required
  • At least three years of hospital-based experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in general surgical pathology, clinical interpretations, and must have recent experience performing frozen sections
  • Subspecialty training or expertise in breast or lung pathology ideal but not required
  • The successful candidate must work cooperatively within diverse environments, have excellent interpersonal skills, and successfully establish and maintain positive relationships with hospital medical staff, technical staff and referring physicians
  • Active Florida Medical License and/or FCVS is a plus

Pathology Volume/Cases:
 
  • Volumes – approximately 3,100 surgical cases per year and 200 cytology cases per year, 9 to 10 procedures per week, and 15-20 peripheral smears per week
  • Procedures – Frozen sections for sentinel nodes, lungs, ortho PMN counts, skin, brain. ROSE for lungs
  • Blake has approximately 380 beds with a Level II Trauma Center and Burn Center. Anatomic pathology specimens include a wide variety of cases - breast, colorectal, thoracic, urologic and neurologic specimens.
