The Precision Fastening Reliability Engineer's primary duties are to utilize engineering skills to contribute to the life cycle of power tool products. The Precision Fastening Reliability Engineer will define the test methods and product requirements needed to ensure durable, disruptive, and market-leading products and systems in advanced systems development and mass production portions of product life cycles.

A successful candidate will bring curiosity, accountability, and strong experience in requirements definition, test development, validation, and data acquisition to the Precision Fastening team. The candidate enjoys a fast-paced work environment with excellent visibility and opportunities to grow.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Development

  • Be a subject matter expert in the Precision Fastening team with respect to test methods, product requirements, user needs, and reliability for precision fastening products
  • Develop critical to quality (CTQ) requirements from collaboration with product management and participation in user needs research
  • Collaborate with engineering and marketing to ensure product specifications with respect to all aspects of reliability, quality, and user needs are met
  • Design experimental techniques to improve development and testing efforts
  • Implement testing best practices within the Precision Fastening team
  • Interact with global suppliers that participate in product development
  • Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process
  • Research published standards and released products to drive understanding in a new, growing category.

Testing and Analysis

  • Develop test procedures and create test plans to evaluate product performance against user and product requirements
  • Effectively document test plans, procedures, and best practices for execution in test laboratories
  • Perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data
  • Summarize test results with statistical techniques and present concise, logical, written conclusions
  • Communicate results, summaries, and implications of test results to a wide variety of stakeholders including technical and non-technical leaders and decision makers
  • Ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions
  • Collaborate with global testing, manufacturing, and engineering teams to identify, evaluate, and resolve testing issues

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • (Reliability, Mechanical, Electrical, or other related disciplines)
  • 5+ years of experience in related reliability, test engineering, and quality field
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as design of experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g. Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft, LabVIEW)
  • Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and statistical analysis, and related software (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
  • Knowledge of measurement system analysis and capability studies (Gage R+R, Process Capability, Machine Capability), particularly as they relate to precision fastening applications
  • Experience in troubleshooting, fault detection, failure analysis, and automating tests/measurements and analysis
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to travel 10% (includes both domestic and international
