What is a user experience (UX) team?

A User Experience (UX) Team is a group of professionals who work together to design and improve how users interact with a product, service, or system. Their goal is to make the user's journey as intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. The team typically includes roles such as UX designers, researchers, writers, and sometimes developers, all collaborating to understand user needs and create solutions that enhance usability and satisfaction. They use research, testing, and design best practices to ensure the final product meets both business goals and user expectations.

How does the user experience (UX) team typically collaborate with other departments during a product development cycle?

The User Experience (UX) Team works closely with product managers, developers, and marketing teams throughout the product development cycle. They often participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure that user needs are prioritized in design decisions and that technical feasibility is considered early. Regular collaboration might include conducting user research, sharing wireframes or prototypes for feedback, and refining designs based on input from stakeholders. This collaborative approach helps create products that are not only user-friendly but also aligned with business goals and technical constraints.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a user experience (UX) team member, and why are they important?

To thrive as a User Experience Team member, you need strong skills in user research, interaction design, usability testing, and a background in fields like Human-Computer Interaction or Graphic Design. Director, UI/UX Design โ€” AI & Digital Transformation

Location: Westlake, TX

Role Summary

The Director of UI/UX Design is a strategic design leader responsible for driving end-to-end experience transformation across Soleraโ€™s digital products. This role leads the evolution of user experience by embedding AI-driven design, automation, and data-informed decisioning into product development. You will partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to deliver intuitive, scalable, and intelligent user experiences that improve customer outcomes and accelerate platform modernization.

Key Responsibilities
  • AI-Driven Experience Transformation
    • Define and execute a UX vision aligned to AI-enabled product strategy (GenAI, ML-driven personalization, automation)
    • Identify and deliver high-impact transformation initiatives that simplify workflows and enhance decision-making
    • Embed responsible AI principles (transparency, bias mitigation, usability) into all experiences
  • Product & Platform Design Leadership
    • Lead UX design for enterprise-scale SaaS platforms, ensuring consistency across complex product ecosystems
    • Translate business and technical requirements into intuitive, user-centered experiences
    • Drive design for data-rich and AI-powered interfaces (insights dashboards, recommendations, automation flows)
  • Cross-Functional Execution
    • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and GTM leaders to align on roadmap and priorities
    • Influence product strategy and architecture decisions through design leadership
    • Ensure seamless integration of UX into Agile and continuous delivery models
  • Team Leadership & Capability Building
    • Build and lead a high-performing global UX team (product designers, UX researchers, design ops)
    • Establish design standards, systems, and governance to scale consistency and efficiency
    • Coach teams on AI-first design thinking and experimentation
  • Data-Driven Optimization
    • Define and track UX KPIs (adoption, engagement, task success, efficiency)
    • Leverage analytics, user research, and experimentation to continuously improve experiences
    • Drive experience measurement tied to business outcomes (conversion, retention, productivity)
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in UX/UI design, with 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven experience leading digital transformation initiatives in SaaS or platform environments
  • Strong exposure to AI/ML-enabled products or data-driven design
  • Experience scaling UX across global, multi-product ecosystems
  • Deep expertise in design systems, interaction design, and user research
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills
What Success Looks Like
  • AI-enabled UX experiences reduce friction and increase automation
  • Design becomes a core driver of product strategy, not just execution
  • Consistent, scalable UX across Solera platforms
  • Measurable improvements in user adoption, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
Why This Role Matters

This role is critical to advancing Soleraโ€™s shift toward AI-powered, intelligent platforms, ensuring that complex data and automation capabilities are delivered through simple, intuitive, and high-impact user experiences.
