Title: UX Researcher III
We are seeking a UX Researcher III to support the development of next-generation AI-powered wearables and communication experiences. This role will focus on understanding how users perceive, interact with, and benefit from emerging speech, audio, and human-AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities Include
  • Design and conduct user research to support the development of AI-powered wearable experiences, with a focus on speech communication and human-AI interaction.
  • Lead lab-based experiments, surveys, statistical analyses, and other quantitative research activities.
  • Supplement quantitative studies with qualitative methods such as interviews, diary studies, and usability testing.
  • Evaluate audio, communication, and device-based experiences to understand user behavior, perception, needs, and pain points.
  • Conduct literature reviews, study planning, piloting, participant data collection, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Translate complex research findings into clear, measurable, and actionable recommendations.
  • Communicate insights effectively to product managers, engineers, researchers, scientists, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to influence product development and the integration of future wearable technology experiences.
  • Independently manage end-to-end research projects while contributing to broader research plans and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Cognitive Psychology, Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related research field.
  • 2+ years of applied research experience in an industry environment, preferably involving consumer products, in addition to relevant academic research experience.
  • Strong experience with mixed-methods research, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, survey research, and behavioral data analysis.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming and data visualization using R or Python.
  • Experience conducting lab-based perceptual or behavioral studies.
  • Relevant research experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Speech communication
    • Voice-based AI
    • Speech production
    • Linguistics or speech sciences
    • Human-AI interaction
    • Audio or communication technologies
  • Experience independently managing research projects from study design through analysis and reporting.
  • At least one year of experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Redmond, Washington, with occasional travel to nearby laboratory facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Cognitive Psychology, Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting behavioral or attitudinal research involving wearable technologies such as smart glasses, headphones, earbuds, or smart watches.
  • Experience researching speech communication, conversational systems, voice interfaces, or AI-assisted communication.
  • Advanced statistical modeling and data visualization experience using R or Python.
  • Experience working with early-stage prototypes, emerging technologies, or research-driven product development.
  • Experience synthesizing quantitative and qualitative findings to influence product direction.
  • Proficiency with qualitative methods, including interviews, diary studies, and usability testing.
  • Ability to tailor research findings and recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in consumer technology, AI, audio, wearables, AR/VR, or related product environments.
