Golden CO 500 Golden Ridge
Senior User Experience (UX) Designer
Location: Golden, CO; Indianapolis, IN; Remote
About the Role
Allegion's Global UX Services Team is seeking a Senior UX Designer for our Digital Order Management software portfolio. You'll own the experience strategy, lead end-to-end design and research, and ensure design outcomes advance business objectives. Our designers collaborate daily with product managers, software engineers, researchers, customer success professionals, marketing, business leaders, and others to design, and deliver software solutions that create value to our customers and their businesses. This new role will join a broader Research and Software Solutions team, who daily seek to scale fast, drive momentum, and delight users.
We're looking for candidates with a growth mindset who have experience on Agile scrum teams, can drive continuous product discovery, make data-driven decisions, and cite real-world examples of how their design and research led to successful product outcomes. Above all, we seek exceptional practitioners and communicators who understand that building world-class software is a team sport.
We are open to US-based remote employees, but are especially interested in candidates local to the Denver or Indianapolis metro areas. Some travel (up to 1-3 times per quarter) may be required.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.
At Allegion, we recognize that great talent and breakthrough ideas can come from anywhere. That's why this position offers a flexible remote work arrangement, with occasional on-site visits as needed based on the role. Whether you're working remotely or collaborating in person, we're committed to providing the tools, support, and dynamic environment you need to succeed. At Allegion, your career thrives where innovation meets flexibility, empowering you to achieve your goals while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
While this is the current structure and we currently have no plans to change, we reserve the right to make changes to the remote schedule as needed at the Company's discretion.
What You'll Do
  • Lead end-to-end UX for complex features and journeys: produce journey maps, personas, flows, wireframes, and prototypes; present concepts and rationale to stakeholders and users.

  • Own the experience strategy for initiatives you lead: define outcomes, success metrics, and trade-offs; align solutions to product and business priorities.

  • Plan, run, and synthesize research across generative, formative, and summative methods (contextual inquiry, interviews, usability testing, card sorting, heuristic evaluations, etc.) and translate findings into actionable insights and prioritized recommendations.

  • Advocate for and run post-release research and measurement; define and track KPIs (e.g., task success, SUS) and use results to inform continuous improvements.

  • Build strong relationships, collaborate closely, and be an active participant in appropriate Scrum ceremonies with your product team(s). Collaborate with engineers to assess feasibility, perform design handoffs, and ensure the delivered experience matches the design intent.

  • Maintain a recurring opportunity backlog and apply systems level thinking: identify scalable opportunities, validate concepts, document insights, and share outcomes with partners.

  • Support the team's functional excellence by maintaining individual and group tasks on the team's Kanban board, providing candid feedback through team engagement surveys, and creating and tracking individual OKRs (objectives and key results).

  • Participate in weekly UX Services meetings to advise, share, and critique work. Participate in bimonthly cross team demos.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level team members in their project work and advise on their professional development.

  • Explore new tools, patterns, and approaches (including AI-assisted design) and share learnings.

  • Be bold and take calculated risks.

What You'll Need To Succeed
  • 5+ years of relevant career experience or 3 years and a Master's Degree of experience in UX with a proven track record of delivering impactful insights and solutions, in a large enterprise or mature startup environment.

  • Excellent written, storytelling, and verbal communication skills to help your teammates build empathy for user needs, understand and leverage research results, and prioritize and execute proposed design solutions.

  • Strong proficiency in facilitating an iterative process and creating high-quality UX artifacts including customer journey maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, research studies and readouts as evidenced by your portfolio. Ability to clearly tell the story of user needs, success metrics, and what you learned along the way.

  • Fluency with design patterns for web based and native mobile (iOS and Android) B2B & B2C software applications.

  • Fluency with modern design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Mural, and Teams; experience with research tools like Maze, Optimal Workshop, and Qualtrics.

  • Proficiency and/or comfort in using or experimenting with AI-assisted tools and integrating them into design workflows such as Figma Make, Claude, and GPT.

  • Proven proficiency with conducting generative, formative, and/or summative research. Strong ability in interpreting research questions, uncovering trends in data, and creating actionable insights.

  • Strong understanding of information architecture principles and WCAG 2.2 accessibility guidelines.

  • Ability to operate autonomously. Strong organizational, time management, planning, and prioritization skills to manage concurrent initiatives effectively.

  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or related User Experience field. Masters preferred.
