Used Car Automotive Technician

Location: Jim Shorkey CDJR/Mitsubishi in Austintown, OH Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

Jim Shorkey Youngstown is looking for a skilled and dependable Used Car Automotive Technician to join our service team. This role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet dealership and safety standards before sale. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and takes pride in delivering quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-point inspections on used vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns
  • Complete reconditioning work, including brakes, suspension, steering, engines, transmissions, and general repairs
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filters, belts, hoses, and fluids
  • Document all work accurately and clearly
  • Communicate vehicle needs and repair recommendations to service advisors or management
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Follow dealership procedures and manufacturer guidelines

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience as an automotive technician (used car or reconditioning experience preferred)
