Senior Systems Engineer - Cryptographic Modernization Washington, DC / Northern Virginia Blu Omega is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a high-visibility cryptographic modernization program supporting the OSD CIO and Department of War-wide migration toward post-quantum cryptography. This role operates within a hybrid environment and is responsible for systems analysis, requirements development, modernization assessments, technical documentation, and enterprise advisory activities. The position requires experience supporting secure systems, cryptographic modernization, or related cyber modernization efforts within a mission-driven environment. Program Overview This program supports Department-wide systems, platforms, networks, and portfolios, collaborating with organizations such as DISA, NSA, USCYBERCOM, and OSD. It offers long-term potential with multiple option years, supporting critical cryptographic modernization initiatives. Key Details * Location: 1400 Defense Pentagon, Washington, DC (Hybrid, onsite support up to 3 days/week) * Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance Required Responsibilities * Conduct secure systems engineering analysis across Department of War platforms, systems, and networks * Develop, evaluate, and document technical and system requirements * Support post-quantum cryptography migration and crypto-agility planning * Analyze technical, operational, and programmatic impacts of cryptographic modernization * Prepare technical assessments, reports, and requirements documentation * Support technical baseline development and configuration activities * Contribute to interoperability, verification, and validation efforts * Support research, engineering analysis, and solution optimization * Evaluate secure systems against applicable standards, policies, and compliance requirements * Coordinate with stakeholders across OSD, DISA, NSA, USCYBERCOM, and other Department of War components * Support technical working groups, program reviews, and government forums * Provide engineering support to senior technical leaders and government stakeholders Required Qualifications * Minimum of 10 years of related systems engineering experience * Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline * Active Top Secret security clearance * Experience supporting DoD or federal national-security environments * Demonstrated experience with secure systems engineering and implementation * Experience developing, analyzing, or validating technical requirements * Strong technical writing and documentation skills * Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to stakeholders * Ability to operate independently and contribute to complex deliverables Preferred Qualifications * Experience with cryptographic modernization or enterprise cryptographic migration * Exposure to post-quantum cryptography transition planning or crypto-agility * COMSEC or secure-communications experience * Experience with Key Management Infrastructure (KMI/KME) * Experience with enterprise cryptographic inventory, discovery, or capability assessments * Secure communications, C4ISR, or cyber modernization experience * Experience supporting OSD, DISA, NSA, USCYBERCOM, or other Department of War components * Experience with interoperability, verification, and validation activities * Support for technical working groups or senior government stakeholders Compensation $190,000-235,000 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
