Job description
Management Scope: Supervises exempt and non-exempt nursing and support staff.Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of nursing experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
Depending on the location, this position may require the incumbent possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with good driving record.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard clinic environment. Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, with ability to lift/transport supplies and equipment. Exposure to blood, various illnesses and diseases. Ability to travel to various work site locations.
1. Administers an effective quality assurance program by monitoring and counseling nurses and support staff, and auditing charts.
2. Makes staff assignments; hires and orientates new staff; monitors time and attendance; and conducts employee performance evaluations.
3. Establishes objectives for programs and develops protocol and appointment systems.
4. Generates various reports as required by the county, state and Centers for Disease Control.
5. Posts, documents and reviews lab test results and communicates problems and discrepancies.
6. Attends and leads departmental and agency meetings.
7. Reviews health literature and keeps staff informed of new and revised issues.
8. Ensures clinic facilities are properly maintained.
9. Plans and participates in research projects.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
