OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior Director, Humanitarian Legal Services, the Staff Attorney is responsible for developing, cultivating, and sustaining relationships with attorneys, law firms, bar associations, law schools, and legal networks to expand the organizationโs pool of volunteer attorneys. Will represent the organization at networking events, conduct targeted outreach, and design engagement strategies that strengthen the pro bono program and increase legal services capacity for underserved clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
โข Engage Partner Agencies and other organizations to create a network of pro bono attorneys
โข Build and maintain partnerships with attorneys, law firms, corporate legal departments, bar associations, and law school clinics
โข Attend network events, bar association meetings, CLE workshops, conferences, and community outreach events to promote the organizationโs mission and volunteer opportunities
โข Identify new networks, affinity groups, and professional associations to expand recruitment pipeline
โข Develop and implement a recruitment strategy
โข Create informational materials, presentations, and talking points for prospective volunteers
โข Lead orientation sessions, volunteer briefings, and onboarding processing for incoming pro bono attorneys
โข Draft emails, newsletters, and social media content that highlight volunteer opportunities
โข Develop and maintain database of assigned programs to ensure compliance with requirements
โข Participate in program meetings and assist with tracking program deliverables
โข Ensure assigned program data reports are prepared accurately for timely submission
โข Centralize clients, legal cases, and case notes in USCRIโs data management system
โข Represent a caseload of clients as determined by the Senior Director, to include conducting intake, providing legal consultation to determine eligibility for legal relief, preparing and sub-mitting immigration applications, and representing clients at hearings, interviews, and other appointments as necessary; and
โข Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director (or Associate Director)

REQUIREMENTS
โข J.D. with a valid license to practice law in the United States
โข 2-5 years of legal experience, with experience in community outreach or partnership development, volunteer recruitment or volunteer management, or other relationship-building role
โข Prior experience in immigration legal services, human rights, or public interest law
โข Program and grant management experience, grant writing experience preferred
โข Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing and demonstrated intercultural communication ability
โข Excellent organizational and time management skills.
โข High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and database programs. Proficiency in CRM or volunteer management database
โข Flexibility for evening and community-based work required, and able to travel as needed
โข Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team
โข Demonstrated support for USCRIโs values by exhibiting respect for others, maintaining confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
