As the home for USC Trojans football since 1923, theLos Angeles Memorial Coliseumalso plays host to concerts, international soccer matches, food festivals, and numerous other events. The Coliseum just completed a $315 million-dollar renovation that will usher in a new era of service as we continue to strive to be "The Greatest Stadium in the World."

We are seeking an Electrician (Resource Employee) to join our rapidly growing team.

Please note, resource employees have a limited employment relationship with the university. Resource employees are hourly, non-exempt employees and cannot work for the university more than 1,000 hours within a rolling 12-month period.

The Opportunity:

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is seeking dedicated individuals who are committed to learning about and delivering the needs of a world-class sporting and entertainment venue. Individuals who will excel in these positions will be responsible to handle day-to-day operational tasks while creating a positive environment for our patrons and staff.

The Accountabilities:

  • Support full time electrical staff during events. Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment such as motors, switches, lighters, heaters, and alarm and control system. Determine need to repair and/or replace equipment.

  • Test wiring system to ensure safety of all components.

  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule new or modified electrical work.

  • Estimate materials required for specific job components.

  • Maintain clean job site throughout duration and clean up job site following work completion. Store and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment.

  • Maintain safe working conditions for self and others by adhering to general electrical safety practices.

  • Prepare reports and/or maintenance records as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

The Qualifiers:

  • Education: High School Diploma or completion/enrollment of 4-year apprenticeship program

  • Experience: 6 months

  • Expertise: Experience performing standard trade-related procedures

  • General knowledge of trade-related methods, materials, tools, and equipment.

  • General knowledge of electrical codes.

  • Familiar with city and state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, standard safety practices and equipment, and other requirements for workplace safety.

  • Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.

What We Prefer:

  • Trades Certification/Apprenticeship or bachelor's degree in electrical, engineering, or related field.

  • 2 years of industry experience.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of large venue, facility, or public assembly building operations and maintenance.

  • Experience with and comprehension of high voltage power, conversion, and electrical safety procedures.

  • General knowledge of electrical codes.

  • Design of basic facility power drawings, schematics, or blueprints.

  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Additional Information:

  • Schedule will include nights and weekends as dictated by events held in the facilities.

  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs is preferred.

  • Term: This is a "Resource Employee" position capped at 1000 hours within a rolling 12 month period - Course credit can be granted if currently enrolled at an accredited university.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.00. When determining an offer, the University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education, training, key skills,internal peer alignment, applicable laws, contractual requirements, grant funding, and market conditions.
