Allweather Wood Company (AWW) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic / Millwright to join their maintenance team in Woods Cross, Utah! This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $33.65 plus benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K match.

Job Summary:

The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of sawmill machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role involves inspecting, assembling, aligning, and maintaining mechanical systems such as conveyors, saws, motors, hydraulic systems, and other production machinery. The Millwright works closely with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime, maintain safety standards, and ensure all equipment operates at peak performance.

Key Duties:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair equipment and /or rolling stock including trucks, forklift, and heavy equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, including cleaning, inspecting, testing, operating, and checking fluids levels, change the oil, and checking tire pressures: add fluids, lubricate fittings, and change tires as needed.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools
  • Strictly follow and abide by all safety rules and policies

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three years related experience and/or training
  • Wood Handling / Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines
  • Background in preventive maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Add, subtract, divide, and multiply in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense underrating to carry out instruction furnished in written, verbal or diagram form
  • Capable of dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is occasionally required to, sit; stand; walk; stoop or kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 plus pounds
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes airborne particles, outside weather conditions
