Job Summary:
Responsible, at various points, for loading, unloading, sorting, staging, transporting and otherwise handling products that come into and move out of the warehouse.
Individuals in this position must work cooperatively with other Associates and productively with little supervision. Individuals must follow U.S. Lumber safety
policies and procedures at all times.
Essential Functions:
  • Safely operate forklift and other machinery
  • Band, wrap, tape product
  • Maintain work area and be organized
  • Responding to public address system announcements, directions from supervisors and managers, warning alarms from other forklift drivers
  • Walking and carrying merchandise
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy - be able to stand and work on your feet throughout shift as normal routine
  • Identify and read tickets, SKU’s, UPC labels and reports
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Work in a team environment
  • Be able to bend, stoop, reach, twist, squat, push, pull, move, and lift to 50lbs
  • Other duties may be assigned

Physical Job Requirements:
• Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items:
o Requires the ability to consistently, and often, lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Responding to public address system announcements, directions from
supervisors and managers, warning alarms from other forklift drivers
• Walking and carrying merchandise
o Requires moving around the warehouse to assist others or moving
merchandise themselves
• Identify and read tickets, SKU’s, UPC labels and reports
o Requires recognizing, identifying and using merchandise and necessary
reports.
• Gripping used to operate machinery or hand tools
Environmental Job Requirements:
• Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the Warehouse,
temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing uneven walking surfaces.
• Warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy.
• Fluctuations of temperature are common; some outdoor exposure during the
workday.
• Wet floors may occur during rainy or snowy weather or at other times depending
on what has transpired in the environment (i.e. cleaning of floors…)
• Sharp and/or rough edges will typically be encountered
• Warehouse equipment and treated lumber may emit fumes
• Some equipment may require electric voltage.
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones
and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape
dispensers.
Required cognitive and psychological characteristics:
• Be personable, articulate, and knowledgeable with the ability to work well with
other employees and management.
• Ability to learn skills quickly with a mature and service-oriented attitude
• Must have a high level of comprehension of, and be able to communicate in, the
English language.
• Must be process oriented and able to take direction with the ability to think and
act with a systematic and effective approach to analyzing situations and acting
on good business solutions to problems.
• Must work with strong attention to detail and high motivation toward completing
task completely, accurately and timely.
• Must be adaptable and flexible in order to change or adapt to changing work
practices, priorities, procedures or conditions.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Forklift skills with appropriate updated certification.
• Ability to meet the required schedule for work.
Required credentials:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year warehouse distribution experience.
• Prior lumber experience desired. Engineered Lumber experience is preferred.
• Forklift experience and forklift certification preferred but not required.
• Must have basic math and analytical skills
• Must be computer literate, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Team Lead/Shift supervisor experience is preferred.
• Self-starter, pro-active and able to take initiative.
