Job description

Team Lead - Library of Congress Worksite
Washington, DC (Onsite)
Zimmerman Associates, Inc. has an opening for a Team Lead to support an onsite project at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. The qualified candidate will help ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines on a production-based contract. Responsibilities include monitoring, reporting on, and supporting the team's work progress, as well as performing other duties as needed.
Pay Rate: $24.65/hour + $5.09/hour Health & Welfare (H&W)
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage daily team operations to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Perform all phases of receiving, inspecting, moving, loading, storing, packing, shipping, and distributing materials.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight to team members responsible for transporting materials.
  • Assign and lead Material Handlers and/or Library Clerks by providing clear daily instructions and maintaining an even workflow.
  • Maintain production records and prepare reports.
  • Ensure supervised staff complete assigned duties accurately and on time.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Project Manager and/or Assistant Project Manager, as needed.
  • Communicate procedural changes and material discrepancies to the Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager.
  • Ensure safety rules and procedures are followed when transporting materials.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, Library staff, and visitors.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in a large library performing similar work, including receiving and sorting materials, retrieving and reshelving materials according to the Library of Congress Classification System, organizing and shifting collections, and transporting materials throughout a library system.
  • Experience working in a major research library with more than one million volumes.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Library of Congress call numbers and shelf-reading practices.
  • Ability to train staff and review their work.
  • Ability to address performance and personnel issues.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout the work location and lift, push, pull, carry, or hold items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop and lift materials from the floor and bottom shelves.
  • Ability to push carts and trucks weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Ability to work in cool and dusty environments.
