Summary and Scope of Position:
The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with the administration and organization of a successful athletic program that competes in the Centennial Conference at the NCAA Division III level.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Coaching - Throwing Events
    • Prepare daily practices. Set up facilities with equipment. Assist in practice direction of student athletes on and off the field. Teach drills and techniques to advance player development.
    • Travel to competitions. Provide instruction for competing athletes.
    • Engage in regular consultation with athletic training personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes.
    • Provide general advising, mentoring and support to student-athletes.
    • Demonstrate concern for the overall welfare of student athletes at all times.
    • Engage in ethical decision-making and outstanding sportsmanship.
    • Execute all responsibilities in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity and success of the Men's & Women's Track and Field program, of the Department of Athletics, and Ursinus College.
  • Recruiting
    • Identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, Centennial Conference, and Ursinus College policies and procedures;
    • Prompt and effective communication via email, Front-Rush, and phone call.
    • Facilitates in-person visits and itineraries for prospective student-athletes.
  • Events
    • Assists in the planning and facilitation of collegiate and high school home contests.
    • Assists with the planning of special events - team banquets, senior day, alumni gatherings, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Knowledge of rules and techniques of the specific sport
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning ability
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III and Centennial Conference rules and regulations
