As a MEMS Sensor Design Engineer III with PCB Piezotronics, Inc., you will be responsible for the design and continuous improvement of MEMS Pressure and Acceleration Piezoresistive sensors. The role is responsible for the simulation, design, analysis, fabrication, test, and evaluation of MEMS sensors. This MEMS Design Engineer will function as the primary technical contributor for the design of new and continuous improvement of existing MEMS sensors while also providing technical guidance and support to on-site MEMS process engineers. Significant interaction with other functions across the organization, including third parties, is required.

Additional Duties:

  • Under the auspices of a Lead Engineer, uses independent judgment and creative latitude to design, develop, or modify products of advanced complexity, applying appropriate engineering principles.
  • Determines the feasibility of complex designs, considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Uses engineering judgment to determine and then to analyze competing product design approaches in materials and construction, many of which may involve novelty.
  • Significant knowledge of and experience with both mechanical and electrical design inputs.
  • Is a recognized expert in sensor design, test methods, and calibration procedures.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment for advanced applications involving product design and analysis.
  • May lead small Teams in the completion of technology projects.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if the design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of the causal relationships of product design to performance and product cost and can modify product designs accordingly.
  • Deep and thorough understanding of 6 Sigma methodologies, such as a design (IDOV) and continuous improvement (DMAIC) tools. Willing and able to use (and teach) the tools.
  • Is capable of employing advanced mathematics to problems in engineering, including statistics.
  • Studies engineering, technical, and industry publications to keep abreast of industry trends and developments in technology. May prepare and/or present technical papers and participate in industry symposia.
  • Follows PCB NPD procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: 10+ years of design engineering experience. Precision component and assembly design experience. Electro-mechanical assembly design expertise. Experience with tolerance analysis, sensor design, application knowledge and material/metallurgy properties, selection and processing. Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office software, 3D modeling software
  • Travel Requirement: As needed.
