Urgently Hiring Rbt Training refers to the training process for new RBTs, often conducted by employers to prepare candidates. In contrast, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a certified professional who has completed the required training, passed the exam, and is qualified to provide ABA therapy services. The training is a step toward certification, while RBT status signifies full qualification and credentialing.

What are some common challenges faced by new Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) during their initial training and on-the-job experience?

New RBTs often encounter challenges such as adapting to the fast-paced environment of behavioral therapy sessions, learning how to implement individualized behavior intervention plans accurately, and managing difficult behaviors in clients. It's also common to feel overwhelmed by the documentation requirements and maintaining effective communication with supervising Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). However, most organizations provide ongoing support, mentorship, and regular supervision to help new RBTs build confidence and competence in their role.

What is RBT training and why is it important?

RBT training refers to the coursework and practical instruction required to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). RBTs work under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to provide behavior-analytic services, often for children with autism or other developmental disorders. The training covers essential topics such as data collection, behavior reduction, and ethical considerations. Completing RBT training is crucial because it ensures that technicians are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality, effective behavioral interventions. Additionally, RBT certification is often required by employers and mandated by state regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and why are they important?

To thrive as an RBT, you need a foundational understanding of behavior analysis principles, completion of a 40-hour RBT training program, and certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Familiarity with data collection software, behavior intervention plans, and client management systems is typically required. Strong communication skills, patience, and adaptability help RBTs effectively support clients and collaborate with supervisors. These skills ensure high-quality, ethical care and contribute to positive outcomes in applied behavior analysis settings.

Job description

Health, dental, and vision start at 25 hours a week. Most ABA providers make you hit 30, or go full-time or nothing.

Blossom ABA is hiring Registered Behavior Technicians for 1:1 in-home ABA therapy with children with autism across Raleigh and Wake County. We're rated 4.2 on Indeed with an 81/100 Work Wellbeing score — higher than any large ABA provider hiring in the Triangle.

Pay and benefits

  • $24 - $30 per hour, based on ABA experience and certification status

  • Medical, dental, and vision starting at 25 hours per week

  • 401(k)

  • Mileage reimbursement between client homes

  • Paid time off and paid training

  • Referral bonus program

Your availability, your radius

Cases are open across the day — mornings, midday, after-school, and evenings. Tell us when you can work and how far you're willing to drive, and we build your caseload around it. Part-time or full-time, with room to grow your hours.

Supervision and growth

  • Structured, scheduled BCBA supervision and ongoing clinical mentorship — you'll know when your supervisor is coming and what you're working on

  • Lead RBT track

  • BCBA Fellowship Program — several of our clinical staff started exactly where you'd be starting

What you'll do

  • Deliver 1:1 ABA therapy to children with autism spectrum disorder in home and community settings

  • Implement individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans written by your supervising BCBA

  • Run skill acquisition programs targeting communication, social skills, play, daily living, and self-regulation

  • Collect accurate session data and complete session notes and documentation on time

  • Respond to challenging behavior using approved, evidence-based ABA procedures

  • Communicate professionally with caregivers, your BCBA, and your clinical team

What you need

  • Active RBT certification through the BACB, or the ability to complete your certification within 120 days of hire

  • Hands-on experience providing ABA therapy to children with autism — direct 1:1 implementation, not observation only

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance meeting North Carolina minimums

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must complete the criminal background check and registry screening required by North Carolina law and our payers for direct-care staff. Results are reviewed individually and consistent with applicable law

  • Able to perform the essential functions of the role — including floor-level play, frequent changes of position, and safe response to challenging behavior — with or without reasonable accommodation

Come find out what this work feels like with real support behind it

You already know how this job goes wrong: supervision that goes quiet, a schedule that changes on you, and no way up. We built this role against all three. If you want respectful pay, a BCBA who actually shows up, and a real path to Lead RBT or BCBA, we'd like to meet you.
