PLC Technician
Bedford Park, IL (On-site) | Local Candidates Only
Compensation: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour
Schedule: 1st Shift
About the Role
A well-established national snack food manufacturer operating 7 facilities across North America is looking for a 1st shift PLC Technician to join the maintenance team at HQ Chicago production facility. This is a hands-on technical role focused on PLC programming, electrical troubleshooting, and controls maintenance across a highly automated production environment that includes robotic cells, automated conveyors, and complex packaging systems.
The company will consider candidates who bring strong technical education in controls or electrical systems, that said, proven PLC and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment is what they are really looking for and will be prioritized.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems across manufacturing and process equipment, automated conveyors, packaging lines, and robotic cells
  • Troubleshoot and adjust PLC programs to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
  • Read, interpret, and redline wiring schematics and control system drawings
  • Adjust parameters in machines, VFDs, and servos using built-in HMI interfaces
  • Install and inspect electrical conduit, raceway, and busbar systems per electrical codes; pull wire and terminate
  • Repair electrical and pneumatic components using standard hand tools, gauges, and procedures
  • Electrically tune and troubleshoot equipment for proper operation within expected tolerances
  • Inspect operating parts to ensure proper function and identify issues before they become downtime
  • Assemble, align, and install equipment as needed
  • Interact professionally with internal personnel and external contractors
Requirements
  • BS/AAS/Maintenance, PLC / Electrical certifications preferred
  • Hands-on PLC programming and electrical troubleshooting experience is strongly preferred; the right candidate with strong technical education and limited experience will also be considered
  • Ability to read and interpret control schematics and electrical drawings
  • Experience with VFDs, servos, HMI interfaces, and industrial communications networks
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience repairing pneumatic and electrical components
  • Must be willing to complete a PLC and electrical skills assessment as part of the hiring process
  • Strong attendance and safety record required
