Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Electrical Material Handler to support a large-scale electrical construction project. The Electrical Material Coordinator will be responsible for receiving, tracking, organizing, staging, and distributing electrical materials throughout the jobsite while maintaining accurate inventory records.

This position will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Foremen, Purchasing Team, and field crews to ensure materials are available when and where they are needed. The ideal candidate has construction jobsite experience, understands electrical materials and equipment, and can effectively manage multiple material requests, deliveries, and inventory needs in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Material Receiving & Inventory

  • Receive and inspect incoming electrical materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips, and material requests.
  • Check quantities and materials for damage, shortages, or incorrect items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all electrical materials.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Track material usage, shortages, damaged materials, and excess inventory.
  • Properly label and organize materials for easy identification and access.

Jobsite Material Coordination

  • Coordinate the movement of materials from delivery areas to designated storage and staging locations.
  • Stage materials for electrical crews according to project schedules and work areas.
  • Issue materials to Foremen and field personnel as needed.
  • Monitor material levels and communicate shortages before they impact production.
  • Maintain organized jobsite storage areas, laydown yards, containers, and/or warehouses.
  • Ensure materials are protected from damage, weather, theft, and improper storage.
  • Coordinate material distribution between different areas of the project.
  • Utilize project management and inventory systems such as Procore, Excel, or other construction software.

Electrical Materials Knowledge

The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of common electrical construction materials, including:

  • MC cable and MC fittings
  • Conduit and fittings
  • Wire and cable
  • Cable tray
  • Electrical boxes and enclosures
  • Supports and strut
  • Disconnects
  • Switchgear and distribution equipment
  • Transformers
  • Panelboards
  • Lighting fixtures and controls
  • Grounding materials
  • Low-voltage materials
  • Fasteners and installation hardware
  • Electrical tools and consumables

Experience working with materials used on commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center projects is highly preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction, warehouse, inventory, logistics, or material coordination experience preferred.
  • Electrical construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical materials and equipment preferred.
  • Experience working on an active construction jobsite.
  • Ability to read and understand material lists, purchase orders, packing slips, and basic construction documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, vendors, and field employees.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Procore or other construction management software is a plus.
  • Ability to lift, move, and organize materials as required by the jobsite.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Material Coordinator, Material Handler, Warehouse Coordinator, Material Manager, or Electrical Apprentice.
  • Experience with large commercial or industrial electrical projects.
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based on an active commercial/industrial construction jobsite and may involve working in warehouses, laydown yards, electrical rooms, and various areas throughout the project.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with both field personnel and project management. This person should take ownership of the site's material operation and be able to identify potential problems before they affect the construction schedule.
