Job description

Production Supervisor

3rd shift, 9:30pm to 6:15am. Overtime may be required daily or on the weekends. May train on 1st shift for two weeks.
About this role
This role is responsible for leading daily operations across air-cooled chiller assembly lines within the value stream. This role owns safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance on shift, driving execution through frontline leadership, standard work, and disciplined problem-solving. The supervisor develops team capability, enforces standards, and ensures production commitments are met in a high-mix, variable manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Own a zero-incident culture; ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with EHS standards
Conduct daily 5S & safety walks, identify hazards, and drive immediate countermeasures
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions
Reinforce safe behaviors through coaching and accountability
Lead multiple air-cooled assembly lines to achieve daily/weekly production targets
Manage labor allocation to meet takt time and adapt to product variability
Escalate and remove constraints impacting throughput in real time
Ensure effective shift handoffs and clear communication of priorities
Enforce adherence to standard work and quality processes
Drive containment and resolution of defects; partner with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering
Lead root cause problem solving (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) to eliminate recurring issues
Support layered process audits and drive accountability for findings
Identify and execute opportunities to improve labor efficiency, throughput, and flow
Support and lead kaizen events and daily continuous improvement activities
Sustain and improve 5S standards across all areas of responsibility
Partner with Industrial Engineering to optimize line balance and standard work
Directly lead and develop a team of hourly operators and team leads
Set clear expectations, provide daily feedback, and conduct performance management
Build team capability through training, cross-training, and skills development
Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and ownership
Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to resolve issues
Ensure material availability and escalate shortages impacting production
Support new product introductions, equipment ramp-ups, and process changes
Drive key metrics: safety, quality (FPY, defects), delivery (attainment), and cost (labor efficiency)
Lead daily tier meetings and ensure issues are tracked, prioritized, and closed
Maintain accurate production reporting and visual management
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
2+ years of experience in manufacturing or operations leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with lean manufacturing principles (standard work, 5S, kaizen, visual management)
Familiarity with brazing, leak testing, electrical systems, and final test processes
Experience with MES systems and production tracking tools.
Proven ability to lead frontline teams in a fast-paced, high-mix environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
