Position Overview:

A Britt Aero Machinist will produce precision parts and tools to customer requirements, through the use of lathes, saws, milling machines, and grinders. A machinist will use their skills to carry out the operations needed to make machined products that meet precise specifications. In this critical position, a Machinist will be involved with projects that have a significant impact on providing quality product to the Britt Aero customer base.


I. Responsibilities:

  A. Perform set-ups, operate, and tear down machines.

  B. Develop work-holding and select cutting tools.

  C. Decipher pertinent details from customer and in-process prints to perform necessary operations.

  D. Hold required tolerances with high accuracy.

  E. Maintain production rates as required.

  F. Perform tool offset adjustments as required.

  G. Perform in-process dimensional checks to customer requirements and specifications as necessary.

  H. Follow provided procedures and work instructions.

  I. Perform program hand edits as required.

  J. Perform basic machine preventative maintenance, including but not limited to, coolant management.

  K. Assist Engineering in the creation of work instructions as necessary.

  L. Assist programming; pilot run and prove programs as required.

  M. Perform surface enhancement and deburr activities as required.


Requirements:


I. Requirements:

  A. Minimum one-year experience in a machinist position is preferred.

  B. Competency in reading drawings with a strong understanding of GD&T.

  C. Competency to complete in-process dimensional checks using precision measuring instruments.

  D. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work independently with provided direction.

  E. Good personal time management, with the ability to run multiple machines as required.

  F. Take initiative to trouble shoot problems as they arise.

  G. Must possess fundamental mechanical and mathematical knowledge.

  H. Must demonstrate strong communication skills.
