Job description

Job Summary
The Transit Supervisor oversees daily bus operations, including driver supervision, dispatch coordination, route management, and safety compliance. This role ensures reliable public transportation service while maintaining strict adherence to FTA regulations, DOT safety standards, and company policies.
This position is ideal for experienced CDL drivers, transportation supervisors, fleet coordinators, or dispatch managers seeking a leadership role in a stable, community-focused environment.Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate bus operators and dispatch staff
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FTA drug and alcohol regulations, and safety standards
  • Manage daily scheduling, route coverage, and driver assignments
  • Monitor on-time performance, pick-ups, and drop-offs
  • Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and customer complaints
  • Conduct driver ride-alongs, performance reviews, and safety inspections
  • Maintain accurate records: attendance, reports, route sheets, and incident logs
  • Coordinate backup drivers or operate a bus when needed
  • Serve as liaison between operations leadership and frontline staff
Requirements
  • Valid Class B CDL with Passenger (P) Endorsement (REQUIRED)
  • Minimum age: 21 (25 preferred)
  • Clean driving record (no DUI/DWI, no major violations in past 3 years)
  • Current DOT medical card
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening (FTA compliant)
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit operations
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or fleet supervision (preferred)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Basic to intermediate computer proficiency
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, and weather conditions
  • Lift up to 50-75 lbs occasionally
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, and field supervision
  • Exposure to vehicle operations, noise, and mechanical environments
Schedule
