Job description

Upper Room KC is seeking a dedicated Youth Development Leader to support our licensed Afterschool Program. Under the supervision of the Site Director, this role plans and leads engaging activities while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and structured environment for youth.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead recreational and educational activities (sports, arts & crafts, academic support, social development)

  • Ensure activities are age-appropriate and aligned with program goals

  • Provide direct supervision at all times — student safety is the top priority

  • Use positive behavior management techniques

  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid as needed

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians

  • Follow all state licensing regulations and organizational policies

  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training

Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Experience working with youth preferred

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to lead and engage children in structured activities

  • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Must pass background screening and meet Missouri DHSS child care requirements

  • Medical and TB risk assessments required

  • Active role requiring standing, walking, and participation in youth activities
