Position Overview:
Up North Learning Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our Setting IV program. Our separate-site school provides specialized educational services for students placed by their resident school districts. The School Social Worker provides individual and group social-emotional support, behavioral intervention, crisis response, and consultation services to students with unique educational and emotional needs. This position works collaboratively with families, teachers, behavior interventionists, related service providers, and resident districts to support student success in a structured and supportive learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small-group social work services aligned with student IEPs
- Support students through crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and self-regulation strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, behavior interventionists, families, and community agencies
- Participate in multidisciplinary assessments, IEP meetings, and student support teams
- Assist with Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Maintain accurate documentation and confidential student records
- Monitor student progress and communicate with resident districts
- Provide consultation and training to staff regarding behavioral and social-emotional supports
- Connect students and families with community resources as appropriate
- Complete required certifications, including Handle with Care and LSCI
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Curren Minnesota School Social Worker license through PELSB
- Current licensure through the Minnesota Board of Social Work
- LICSW Preferred
- Experince working with students with emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs preferred
- Strong collaboration, communication, and crisis intervention skills
Schedule & Compensation:
Hours per Day: 8 (7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
Duty Days: 183 days per year (August - June)
Salary: $59,000-$80,724 depending on education and experience
