Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Media Services in the Office of Marketing and Communication, the University Photographer will shoot promotional photographs of the university and provide photographic coverage of university activities and events. In addition, the position will schedule photographic shoots and portrait sessions, as well as manage all aspects of image selection, optimization, approval, storage and maintenance of the digital asset manager (DAM) so that teammates can easily locate images. This individual must excel in a fast-paced teamwork environment and demonstrate initiative to fulfill the role successfully.

Required Qualifications

Experience and full professional working knowledge of the functions of a digital camera and lens, principles of color photograph, color theory, physics of light, (black white and color), studio photography, portrait photography, media photography, online/social photography, marketing photography and product photography. Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail. Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom as used to manipulate, edit and optimize photos.
Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse university population with a commitment to collaboration, professional interactions (verbal and in writing) and initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

Video capture and editing. Experiences with an asset management system for access to a large audience of users. A charismatic, customer service-focused personality that builds rapport with a variety of people to help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Additionally, this person must demonstrate a teamwork-focused approach and commitment to collaboration.
