Job description

As a Lifeguard II under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, you will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life, and enforce regulations, as well as control access to the pool area.
You must be rescue-ready for any emergency; provide care up to the standard of your certification; and assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.Attendance at monthly in-service training is required, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
  • In addition to all Lifeguard I duties, you will assist the Aquatics Manager and Assistant Manager in overseeing daily pool operations
  • Mentor and support Lifeguard 1 by providing guidance on lifeguarding techniques, customer service, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Provide general supervision of the aquatic center activities, swimmers, and aquatic center rules.
  • Log and complete incident reports, ensuring accurate and complete safety checklists.
  • Aid in inventory management for lifeguard supplies, equipment, and first aid kits.
  • Take regular readings of pool chemicals.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and operation of the aquatic center.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: Minimum age of 18 years, with at least 6 months of lifeguarding experience preferred.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: Water Safety Instructor experience preferred. Current certification in CPR/AED
Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm within the first 30 days of employment
Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds, perform rescues, and remain on your feet for extended periods
