AI, computer vision, advanced imaging, and intelligent sensing are creating new possibilities for aviation. We’re looking for someone who wants to turn those possibilities into real technology.

Universal Avionics is looking for a Technical Manager, AI, Software & Systems Engineering to bring together highly specialized engineering teams across AI/ML, computer vision, image processing, sensing, software, and systems engineering.

This role sits where emerging technology meets engineering execution. You’ll connect the disciplines, guide technical decisions, solve complex integration challenges, and help move advanced ideas from concept toward real-world airborne products.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive technical direction across AI/ML, software, systems engineering, computer vision, imaging, and sensing
  • Connect engineers and specialists across disciplines to solve complex technical problems
  • Guide architecture, integration, and technical tradeoffs
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for future product capabilities
  • Lead technical and design reviews
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and integration challenges early
  • Connect AI, software, sensors, hardware, interfaces, and system requirements
  • Partner with Program Management and engineering leadership to move technology from concept through development, verification, integration, and delivery
What You Bring
  • Strong practical experience with AI/ML and modern intelligent systems
  • Experience with computer vision, neural networks, image processing, sensing, video analytics, object detection, tracking, or related technologies
  • Strong software and systems engineering knowledge
  • Experience solving complex multidisciplinary technical problems
  • Strong architecture, integration, and technical decision-making skills
  • Experience leading technical teams, programs, products, or complex engineering initiatives
  • Curiosity about emerging technology and a track record of learning and applying new capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field
  • Advanced technical degree preferred
  • Aviation, avionics, aircraft systems, safety-critical product, or certification experience is a plus
