Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Tech QA Lead to join our Boston Hub working on Cyberpunk 2, the next game in the Cyberpunk franchise. In this role, you will build a team of Technical QA Analysts and processes. You will collaborate closely with designers, programmers, and the broader QA team to maintain gameplay consistency, technical integrity, performance, with a focus on engine and development tool support. This role requires a deep understanding of project milestones, strong QA technical knowledge, and a passion for delivering high-quality player experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of QA professionals, including QA Analysts and QA Engineers, to effectively execute QA strategy and ensure the delivery of high-quality products. Drive the execution of the QA strategy, aligning team members on progress, risks, and status.
  • Grow, mentor and manage a team of Tech QA Analysts. This role is required to do career management, performance reviews, and leveling up direct reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams both inside and outside the studio, engaging with developers, designers, and project managers to comprehend project requirements and align on quality expectations.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the project, including product milestones and key areas related to QA processes.
  • Conduct risk analysis and mitigation planning, proactively addressing potential quality issues early in the development process.
  • Perform hands-on technical QA of products on various platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices.
  • Ensure milestone verification of each project is completed on time and with the highest quality standards.
  • Develop reporting on owned areas for development team leads and directors, defining success KPIs captured through data reporting. Make decisions informed by data.
  • Cultivate constant communication with the Cyberpunk 2 team and cross-departmental teams, ensuring transparency on QA status, risks, and opportunities. Ensure stakeholders have proper visibility into QA processes and are informed of any changes that may impact their teams.
  • Provide technical and conceptual support for team members. Plan team assignments for milestones based on delivery plans from current projects. Define and communicate team targets, both short and long term.
  • Take an active role in building the team, including participating in the interviewing and hiring process for new candidates.
  • Coordinate the learning process for new team members, if required, and actively contribute to it. Cultivate a culture of continuous learning within the QA team, promoting skill development, knowledge sharing, and staying abreast of industry trends.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Technical QA Analyst or in a similar role with at least 5 years of experience and with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal, Unity, Godot, REDkit).
  • Direct experience with the Unreal Engine and its Editor is preferred.
  • Ability to develop complex test strategies that encompass integration, stress, and performance testing.
  • Experience in using testing tools and frameworks to optimize testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience in defining debug needs and capturing relevant information to send to developers, such as obtaining PIX captures or capturing debug network messages to identify points of failure in multiplayer scenarios.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think systematically to drive quality improvements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation and test reports.
  • Deep understanding of game/product development lifecycles and dependencies across content and technology.

Estimated pay range for this position: $112,100 - $154,200 USD annually

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Final offers are dependent on job-related factors like experience, qualifications, and location.
