Job Description

As the Buffet Ambassador, properly greet and acknowledge guests in a friendly and welcoming manner when entering into the buffet room. Responsible to monitor and maintain the hot and cold buffet stations by maintaining quality standards, sanitation, and food safety. Serves guests with a professional, friendly, and positive attitude and puts guest requests above other duties. Acts as a front-line ambassador for the department, has full knowledge of buffet items, contents and recipes and represents a high standard of excellence. Your attention to detail, sense of urgency and knowledge of our outstanding Food & Beverage offerings makes guests of our restaurants feel unique and valued. 

Hourly Rate:  $26.19

What you will be doing:

  • Check buffet stations for necessary equipment and set up: ice, dishes, utensils, ensuring all stations are on, music is on and at an appropriate volume. Ensure these are completed prior to the opening of restaurant
  • Assist guest regarding buffet items in an informative and helpful way
  • Maintain and clean buffet stations, utensils and ensure to replenish as needed
  • Expedite all buffet food replenishments from main kitchen to Kea Lani buffet room, following standards of presentation
  • Ensure that temperatures of all hot & cold items in the buffet room are at the proper temperature for consumption based on the State of Hawaii & EHC (Environmental Health Consultancy) food handling safety standards
  • Keep in consistent communication with kitchen team in order to ensure that food items are replenished in a timely manner
  • Ensure that overall cleanliness and maintenance of our buffet exceeds expectations
  • Adhere to the LQA, State of Hawaii & EcoSure food handling safety standards
  • Organize time so all side work is completed according to shift demand
  • Maintain atmosphere of aloha spirit by providing engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service to our guests
  • Focus attention on anticipating guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Schedule:  Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel. 

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous experience in Food & Beverage is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel environment desirable. 
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.

Licenses or Certificates          

  • Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance required
  • Food Safety Certification or ServSafe Certification required

Education

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) and/or vocational training is an asset.
