Unit Name: NVICU

Building: Main

Number of Beds: 16

Patient Ratios: 2:1, sometimes 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity/staffing

Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability): unit secretary staffed during dayshift. Occasional nurse extern working as a tech.

Type of equipment: Ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, EV 1000

Documentation system: Meditech

Scheduling requirements: Minimum weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts per schedule. Schedule is done in 4 week increments. Self-scheduling to an extent. Manager will move shifts to balance out schedule.

Floating policy: Contract labor is first to float. If the staffing need is in med/surg, contract labor is expected to float to med/surg and take the assignment.

Patient Experience requirements: Expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients/family members.

Certifications: ACLS, BLS

Hiring profile Requested Skill Set: Must have: Active RN license. ACLS. BLS. ICU experience.

Advanced skills needed: Procedures performed on unit: Insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, EVD insertions.

Dress Code: (Required uniform) Navy scrubs, tops and bottoms
