Job description


The Chief Resident provides a blend of education, patient care, advocacy, and administration, with heavy emphasis on teaching medicine in a clinical context.
Responsibilities
  1. Junior Faculty Responsibilities
    1. Dedicate sufficient clinical time in Pediatric Academic Clinic.
    2. Serve as Junior Faculty Attending at the PAC, precepting residents during continuity clinic.
    3. Maintain own primary care patient panel at the PAC
  2. Chief Resident Responsibilities
    1. Serve as designated "Resident Liaison", as required by ACGME Program
    2. Maintain all Resident scheduling
    3. Organize and contribute to weekly Morning Report for PRP (with senior faculty advisors)
    4. Serve on relevant PRP Committees: Curriculum, Recruitment & Selections, Core Faculty
    5. Participate in monthly Matrix sessions (with senior faculty advisors)
    6. Participate in monthly Evidence-Based Medicine/Journal Club sessions (with senior faculty advisors)
    7. Plan and participate in all resident retreats (with PRP administration)
    8. Participate in practice-based leaning and advocacy projects
    9. Attend weekly PRP administrative meetings
    10. Attend monthly GME meetings
    11. Attend external conferences as needed by PRP
  3. Patient Care and Collaboration
    1. Participates in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Participates in the clinical evaluation and care of patients in a variety of patient care settings with sufficient frequency
    2. Participates in institutional programs and activities involving the medical staff.
    3. Develop an understanding of ethical, socioeconomic and medical/legal issues that affect graduate medical education and participate in institutional committees and councils, especially those that relate to patient care review activities, quality assurance, and apply cost containment measures in the provision of patient care.

  • Successful completion of 3 years residency program
  • Doctor of medicine degree
