Unit Secretary 24 Hour Evenings 3 pm to 11:30 pm

At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $16.18– $24.27, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

As the Unit Secretary, you will provide secretarial and clerical support to the nursing unit to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the nursing unit.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Answers telephone on the unit in a respectful and professional manner; relays messages to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Schedules appointments for procedures and tests, obtains results, and files results in patient charts.
  • Arranges for consults with physicians.
  • Prepares patient charts for admission and disassembles charts for discharge, records information according to Health Information System standards.
  • Assists in including arranging patient transport as needed, assigns room for cleaning.
  • Transports specimens to the lab.
  • Obtains supplies from internal sources such as Materials Management department.
  • Maintains a clean and secure environment to ensure efficient and safe operation of the nursing unit.
  • Functions as an active member of the health care team on the unit.

Education And Related Experience

Required: • High school diploma or equivalent • Previous experience performing clerical and phone duties in an office or health-care related environment • Must have outstanding customer service attitude and demonstrate a commitment to professional behavior

Preferred: • Knowledge of health care terminology
