Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Mental Health Associate, Eating Disorder Unit in Somerville, NJ.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a related field or a minimum of 5 years behavioral health experience
  • Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Minimum 1 year experience, training, or education in the field of treatment

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • BLS Certification from AHA

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Evening Shift, 40 hours
  • Full-Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

Patient Care

  • Understands information pertinent to assigned patients
  • Transports patients to ancillary departments and emergency room.
  • Completes personal hygiene for assigned patients.
  • Reports patient complaints, problems. And any untoward signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate Registered Nurse
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations
  • Assists with ambulation techniques, assistive devices, and patient positioning.
  • Assists with nutritional needs of patients; collects specimens; and takes and records vital signs.
  • Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary staff to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere on the unit and notifies professional nurses of any information regarding patient's physical and emotional condition.
  • Ability to add additional parameters as needed by review of patient history and physical.
  • Assists associates in completion of their duties and functions as a cooperative active member of the health care team
  • Interacts with the patients on the unit to promote the safety and security of all patients and staff and reports to the professional nurse any condition on the unit that jeopardizes safety and security
  • Shows sound and mature judgment in maintaining the safety and security of the patients and staff.
  • Maintains the rules and regulation of the unit and notifies professional nurses of situations that require immediate attention

Documentation

  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of clinical information.
