Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit
Schedule
This position is for a 12-hour night shift, with weekends as scheduled.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) will provide care to patients with various medical conditions. The IMU is a 30-bed unit, comprising 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms. The nurse will work collaboratively with charge nurses, clinical assistants, and nurse aides to ensure quality patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and telemetry.
  • Administer medications and titrate IV drips (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin).
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to manage patient care effectively.
  • Provide education to patients and families about their health conditions.
  • Assist in chest pain, arrhythmias, and other cardiac-related patient care.
  • Perform post-cath and post-pacer care, including groin checks.
  • Coordinate care with the hospitalist and intensivist available 24/7.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Current RN license.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Experience in telemetry and intermediate care nursing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
