The Opportunity:
As a Friendly Force Tracking (FFT) / Unit Reference Number (URN) Integrator supporting the SCOPES Program at USSOUTHCOM, you will support the Joint Task Force-Western Hemisphere (JTF-WHEM) JDN Cell by managing and integrating Friendly Force Tracking capabilities that enable a common operational picture across joint, coalition, and partner nation forces. You will oversee the assignment, validation, and management of Unit Reference Numbers (URNs), ensure the integrity of Friendly Force Tracking data, and support the seamless integration of tracking information across Command and Control (C2) systems. Your expertise will enhance situational awareness, improve operational coordination, and reduce the risk of fratricide during exercises and real-world operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Friendly Force Tracking (FFT) capabilities and Unit Reference Number (URN) databases to ensure accurate identification and tracking of friendly forces across joint and coalition operations.
  • Assign, validate, and synchronize URNs while maintaining configuration control and data integrity across SIPRNet, CENTRIXS, and other authorized mission networks.
  • Integrate FFT data feeds with GCCS-J, MSS, MCS COP, Common Operational Picture (COP) systems, and associated message translation services to support real-time situational awareness.
  • Coordinate with Joint, Service, coalition, and partner nation stakeholders to resolve data discrepancies, maintain interoperability, and ensure compliance with established tactical data standards.
  • Monitor FFT system performance, verify track accuracy, and recommend corrective actions to maintain reliable command and control capabilities.
  • Support operational planning, exercises, and contingency operations by ensuring FFT systems, hardware, and supporting databases are fully operational and mission ready.
  • Advise senior leaders and operational planners on Friendly Force Tracking capabilities, URN management, system integration, and best practices to improve operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • 4+ years of experience supporting Friendly Force Tracking (FFT), Unit Reference Number (URN) management, or Command and Control (C2) systems within a Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Service Component Headquarters, or equivalent operational headquarters.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Friendly Force Tracking systems and devices, including Shout Nano, Garmin, TAK, and familiarity with Cobra Waveform Systems, FBCB2, JCR, MTS, and DTCS.
  • Experience managing URN databases, configuration management, repository synchronization, and data integrity across SIPRNet and CENTRIXS environments.
  • Experience integrating FFT data into GCCS-J, MSS, MCS COP, Common Operational Picture (COP), and related C2 systems.

Desired:
  • Knowledge of tactical data standards and message formats, including MIL-STD 6017 (VMF), JBFSA XML, NFFI, and NATO or commercial Friendly Force Tracking standards.
  • Experience supporting joint and multinational exercises, contingency operations, and theater-level command and control integration.
  • Experience with Common Operational Picture management, track validation, and operational data synchronization across multi-domain environments.
