Schedule

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Shift:Nights, 3x12s (typical 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Unit Details

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Unit:Labor & Delivery within a community hospital setting

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Approximateratio: 1:1 in active labor when possible; may assist postpartum or mother-babydepending on census and staffing needs.

Job Responsibilities

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Providecomprehensive perinatal nursing care to laboring women and newborns throughantepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Performongoing maternal and fetal assessments, including fetal heart rate monitoring,contraction pattern evaluation, and maternal vital sign review.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Assistwith vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric emergencies incollaboration with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatric teams.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Administermedications including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and other obstetric agentsaccording to facility policy while monitoring for adverse effects.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Supportbreastfeeding initiation, newborn care, and parental education on postpartumrecovery, newborn safety, and follow-up care.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Documentassessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronicmedical record and participate in unit quality and safety initiatives.

Required Qualifications

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ActiveConnecticut Registered Nurse license in good standing

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Minimum1-2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care setting.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย CurrentBLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; NRP or equivalent may berequired by the facility.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Competencyin fetal heart monitoring interpretation and obstetric emergency response,including hemorrhage and preeclampsia management.

Preferred Qualifications

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย AWHONNIntermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring preferred

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย RNC-OBor similar inpatient obstetric nursing certification preferred
