Union representatives often navigate the challenge of effectively advocating for members’ interests while maintaining constructive relationships with employers. Striking a balance between assertively addressing member concerns—such as fair wages, workplace safety, and job security—and fostering open, solution-oriented dialogue with management is essential. Representatives must also ensure transparent communication with union members, manage expectations, and stay updated on labor laws and contracts. These tasks require strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.

What is a union?

A union is an organized group of workers who come together to collectively negotiate with employers over wages, benefits, working conditions, and other employment-related matters. These skills ensure the Union can protect workers' rights, negotiate fair agreements, and address workplace issues efficiently.
