Job Overview
Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse on the Med/Surg Oncology Unit at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. Will consider new grads!
Schedule: This role is a .7 FTE (56 hours every 2 weeks) working 8-hour day & evening shifts, with every other weekend rotation. Variable weekday schedule.

About this Unit:
The Med/Surg Oncology unit has 32 beds, 16 with lifts, seeing patients 18 years & up. Oncology, Hospice, GI, Urology, Bariatric Surgical, Medical-Surgical, & Telemetry patients make up the patient populations on this unit.
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) Some positions may require ACLS depending on the unit and patient population.
