Job Summary

The Pipefitter (Tubing Specialist) is responsible for the installation, fabrication, bending, and maintenance of piping and tubing systems in an industrial environment. This role requires expertise in precision tube bending, routing, and fitting for systems such as instrumentation lines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and process piping while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.


Key ResponsibilitiesPipe & Tubing Fabrication
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend tubing and piping to required specifications.

  • Perform precision tube bending using hand, hydraulic, and CNC tube benders.

  • Layout and install tubing systems for instrumentation, hydraulic, and pneumatic applications.

  • Ensure proper alignment, slope, and support of piping systems.

Installation & Assembly
  • Install valves, fittings, regulators, and control devices.

  • Read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and blueprints.

  • Perform flange make-up, gasket installation, and torqueing procedures.

  • Route tubing to avoid stress, vibration, and interference.

Maintenance & Repair
  • Inspect piping/tubing systems for leaks, corrosion, or damage.

  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform repairs or replacements.

  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.

Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.

  • Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API as applicable).

Quality Control
  • Verify measurements, bends, and installations meet specifications.

  • Maintain clean, properly labeled, and organized work areas.

  • Document work completed and maintain accurate records.


QualificationsEducation
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical training or apprenticeship in pipefitting preferred.

Experience
  • 3+ years of industrial pipefitting experience preferred.

  • Proven experience with tube bending and tubing installation (instrumentation/hydraulic systems).

  • Experience in refineries, chemical plants, power plants, or industrial construction is a plus.

Skills
  • Proficient in tube bending (manual and hydraulic benders).

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and P&IDs.

  • Knowledge of tubing materials (stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, etc.).

  • Strong math and measurement skills.

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

  • Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and working in awkward positions.

  • Must be able to work in outdoor/industrial environments.


Work Environment
  • Industrial facilities such as refineries, chemical plants, or fabrication shops.

  • Exposure to noise, heat, chemicals, and heavy equipment.
