We're excited to share an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Wireless Network Engineer to join UMass Lowell's IT team.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, values collaboration, and takes pride in building wireless networks that simply work while pushing what's possible in a modern, mature environment. You'll design, evolve, and support a robust enterprise Wi-Fi environment across a dynamic, multicampus university, helping shape the reliability, performance, and future direction of wireless services used by thousands every day. This is a primarily on-site position based at the UMass Lowell campus in Lowell, MA.
What you'll design, deliver, and influence:
  • Architect, implement, and support a large-scale enterprise wireless network using HPE/Aruba technologies
  • Lead wireless design, capacity planning, and performance optimization initiatives
  • Partner closely with network, security, and project teams to deliver reliable and secure services
  • Drive continuous improvement through proactive monitoring, metrics, and thoughtful network evolution
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for complex troubleshooting, projects, and next-gen Wi-Fi solutions
  • Partner across campus to enable academic innovation and research success

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • 6+ years of experience designing, configuring, and supporting an enterprise HPE/Aruba Wi-Fi infrastructure, including Mobility Conductors and clustered Aruba controllers.
  • 4+ years of experience with Aruba ClearPass, including architecture, administration, and troubleshooting of wired and wireless authentication.
  • 4+ years of experience operating and maintaining Aruba AirWave for centralized monitoring, alerting, reporting, and performance analysis of wireless infrastructure.
  • Industry-recognized certification such as Aruba Certified Mobility Associate or Aruba Certified Networking Professional, or the ability to achieve an appropriate industry certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and ensuring the success of our customers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Additional Considerations:
  • Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment from Extreme Networks.
  • Experience with network technologies such as firewalls, VoIP, or Network Access Control solutions.
  • Experience leveraging network management systems to improve visibility, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability of enterprise wireless environments.

This is a full-time, benefited SEIU union position in P20 with anticipated hiring range of $105,000 -$120,000. Formal minimum is $85,689 with 25th quartile of $98,542 and midpoint of $111,396.
