Summary

Join CHS at our union lubricants manufacturing facility in Inver Grove Heights, MN, where safety, reliability, and teamwork are at the center of everything we do. As a 2nd shift Union Maintenance Mechanic, you'll play a critical role in keeping our plant operating safely and efficiently by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical, instrumentation, and facility systems. This position offers 2nd Shift hours 3:00pm-11:00pm Monday - Friday, onsite training, competitive pay & benefits, and the opportunity to be a part of the largest cooperative in the U.S.  This position works closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to support production, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to equipment issues, and help drive continuous improvement across the facility.

The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, values a strong safety culture, and enjoys solving complex mechanical and electrical challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Compensation Data
  • Salary Range: $37.45/hr
  • This is a union role. Wages are based on the collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and mechanical systems throughout the facility.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient plant operations.
  • Install, maintain, test, and calibrate electrical and instrumentation equipment in accordance with plant standards and applicable codes.
  • Support electrical construction, equipment installations, and plant improvement projects alongside maintenance, engineering, and contractor teams.
  • Identify, report, and help correct unsafe conditions while supporting a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
  • Participate in plant inspections, safety initiatives, and incident investigations as needed.
  • Maintain work areas, electrical rooms, shops, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and engineering teams to identify process improvements and resolve equipment reliability issues.
  • Follow established maintenance procedures and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate spare parts inventory levels and communicate inventory needs to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Complete maintenance work orders and maintain accurate equipment, repair, and maintenance records.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, reliability, productivity, and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • 1+ years in Maintenance
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience performing maintenance in a lubricants, chemical processing, refinery, manufacturing, industrial production, or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production equipment.
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business demands
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements, and FMCSA Clearinghouse.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and load up to 75 lbs
  • Comfortable in damp, dusty, dry conditions
