Job description

CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift


We are a family-owned CNC machine shop in Union Grove, WI, hiring an experienced CNC Machinist for 2nd shift.


We are looking for someone with real CNC machining experience who can independently operate equipment, inspect parts, make offsets, change tooling and recognize problems during production. This is not an entry-level position. Full programming experience is not required, but candidates should understand CNC machining and be comfortable taking responsibility for their machines and part quality.

Experience with CNC lathes is preferred. Experience with Star or other Swiss CNC machines is a major plus.


What You'll Do

  • Operate CNC lathes, Swiss machines and other CNC equipment
  • Read blueprints, dimensions and tolerances
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges and other inspection equipment
  • Make tool and wear offsets to maintain part dimensions
  • Change inserts and cutting tools as needed
  • Monitor tool wear, part quality and machine performance
  • Troubleshoot basic machining and quality issues
  • Verify parts after adjustments and tool changes
  • Monitor bar feeders and automated production equipment
  • Keep machines running efficiently while maintaining quality
  • Complete required inspection and production documentation
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience preferred
  • Star Swiss or other Swiss CNC experience is a major plus
  • CNC lathe experience preferred
  • Okuma experience is a plus
  • Previous CNC machine operating experience required
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances
  • Experience using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to make offsets and basic machine adjustments
  • Experience changing inserts and cutting tools
  • Understanding of tool wear and basic machining principles
  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistent part quality
  • Setup, programming or program-editing experience is a plus but not required
