Labor Relations Specialist (Major Industrial Project)

Location: Aiken, South Carolina (100% Onsite)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10-Hour Shifts

Compensation: $95,000 – $120,000 Base Salary + Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP) Bonus

Benefits: 100% Employer-Paid Healthcare Premiums for Employee | 401(k) Match (up to 4%) | Generous Vacation & Extra PTO

Relocation/Per Diem: Potential Per Diem eligibility for candidates living 60+ miles from the jobsite (TBD)

Security Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required (due to federal nuclear facility access regulations)


Step Into a High-Impact, High-Visibility Labor Relations Role


Are you a confident, sharp, and solution-oriented Labor Relations professional who knows how to hold the line, advise executive site leadership, and maintain strong, productive union relationships?

An immediate opening exists for a Labor Relations Specialist to support a massive, multi-project industrial expansion in Aiken, South Carolina. Managing labor operations across 5 active project sites, you will serve as the subject matter expert and strategic advisor for 132 project management team members and approximately 470 union craft employees across cement, steel, and building trade unions.

This is an urgent, high-priority hire for an assertive professional who isn't afraid to challenge leadership when necessary, tell management "no" to protect compliance, and build quick credibility across both operations and union halls.


Key Responsibilities

  • Labor & Management Advising: Provide expert interpretation and guidance on collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), company policies, and labor law to site management and operational leaders.
  • Dispute Resolution & Grievance Handling: Promote early dispute-resolution strategies to minimize site friction. Support grievance, arbitration, and disciplinary processes, including employee discharges and leave administration.
  • Union Relations & Collaboration: Build and maintain transparent, constructive relationships with business agents, trade stewards, and Building Trade Unions representing steel, cement, and craft labor.
  • Collective Bargaining & Research: Support collective bargaining preparation, wage schedule implementations, and multi-union discussions to resolve jobsite issues efficiently.
  • Discipline & Compliance: Ensure all disciplinary actions, investigations, and workforce decisions strictly align with employment regulations, DOE requirements, and rule-based policy frameworks.


Required Experience & Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen to meet security clearance and federal regulatory access requirements for nuclear/DOE facilities.
  • Experience: 2 to 5+ years of dedicated Labor Relations, Employee Relations, or Industrial Relations experience.
  • Union Expertise: Hands-on experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements, managing grievances, and advising management on disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Clearance & Background: Ability to pass comprehensive Department of Energy (DOE) security background screening, including drug and alcohol testing, and hold a valid driver's license.


Target Candidate Persona:

  • Assertive & Credible: A strong-willed advocate who can stand firm, challenge leadership respectfully, and maintain unquestioned credibility with both management and union reps.
  • Practical Problem-Solver: A creative thinker with sound judgment who navigates high-stakes employee relations situations with poise and confidence.


Preferred / Assets:

  • Prior experience in Nuclear, Department of Energy (DOE), Heavy Industrial, or Construction sector environments.
  • Educational background in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with building trade unions, markup processes, and contract negotiations.
