The Opportunity

Mutual Security Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated Core Application Specialist to support and enhance the technology platforms that power our operations, digital services, lending processes, and member experience. This role serves as a key liaison between business teams, technology partners, and software vendors. The candidate will help manage critical business applications, coordinate system enhancements, support technology projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and identify opportunities for process improvement across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technology, business analysis, project coordination, and problem-solving to drive operational efficiency and improve the overall user experience.


Major Responsibilities

Application & Platform Support

  • Serve as a primary administrator and subject matter expert for digital banking, online account opening, lending, customer relationship management, reporting, and other business-critical applications.
  • Coordinate system configurations, workflow enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and platform improvements.
  • Monitor application performance, identify trends, and work with vendors and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve reliability.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex application and workflow issues.

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Gather and document business requirements for system enhancements, projects, and technology initiatives.
  • Analyze operational workflows and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and member service.
  • Evaluate the impact of system changes across departments and business processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technology solutions align with organizational objectives.

Testing & Change Management

  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and release validation activities.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and documentation of application upgrades and enhancements.
  • Ensure system changes are properly tested, communicated, approved, and deployed.
  • Maintain change management documentation and implementation records.

Vendor & Project Coordination

  • Act as a primary point of contact for application vendors and technology partners.
  • Coordinate support requests, issue escalations, system enhancements, and release activities.
  • Participate in technology projects by managing timelines, tracking progress, and facilitating communication among stakeholders.
  • Assist with vendor performance reviews and service-level monitoring.

Governance, Security & Compliance Support

  • Support application governance processes, including access reviews, documentation, and change controls.
  • Ensure technology solutions and system changes align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain technical and operational documentation for supported applications.
  • Assist with audits, examinations, and vendor reviews by providing supporting documentation and evidence.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting Jack Henry Symitar and MeridianLink business applications, technology platforms, and financial services systems.
  • Experience supporting SaaS applications, system integrations, and third-party vendor solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of change management, user acceptance testing, and release management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
  • Sitting the majority of the time.
  • The ability to occasionally lift, push, pull or carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional bending, squatting, twisting, climbing, reaching above, at or below shoulder level, and kneeling.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
  • The ability to effectively interact with all personality types in stressful situations.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively.
  • Occasional travel for training, vendor meetings, or conferences may be required
